Can I send and receive SMS messages?

The BT smartnumbers mobile app lets you send and receive SMS messages (texts) and keep these separate from your personal texts.

When you send a text using the BT smartnumbers mobile app, the message is sent from your smartnumber, not your personal mobile phone number. A copy of the text is also delivered to you as an email.

Texts sent to your smartnumber are delivered to you as emails to keep them separate from personal texts. To reply to one of these texts, you must click one of the response links in the email, and not reply to the email in your email client. The following links are available at the end of the email:

• SMS: The smartnumbers mobile app opens a blank text message addressed to the original message sender.
• Email: A new email message is created using the original message sender's email address. 
• Call: The smartnumbers mobile app opens and a call is made to the original message sender.
